Why Aerial Photography is a Group Effort: Tips of Growing Your Business, Working with Others, and Retaining Clients

Wendy Whittemore is the owner and founder of Aerial Innovations of TN, Inc. Before starting the company in Nashville in 2003, she worked in Atlanta for her sister company, Aerial Innovations of GA, Inc. It was here that she learned the ropes to creating and selling aerial photography. When her husband got transferred to Nashville, it was natural for Wendy to continue what she loved so she started her own business. In 14 years, she has grown from 2 people in a basement office up to 10 employees and contractors that work across 2 states and several key markets. Wendy grew up in Pittsburgh and went to the University of Dayton for her BA in Photography. In those days, it was all darkroom work, pre-digital and very creative. After graduating, she traveled and worked from Queens New York to Seoul South Korea and back to Pittsburgh. Her first paying photography job was for a local newspaper in Western PA and Central Ohio. Fortunately, she found her love of flying before the industry of photojournalism took a big hit. In the time between newspapers and commercial photography, she has learned to go digital, fly a drone and create and edit video. She has kept up with the pace of change and looks forward to each new challenge. She lives in East Nashville with her husband and 60 bats.
