Aerial Mapping, aka vertical photography, by Pat Belanger

Pat, Julie, and Niki have been shooting verticals for over 20 years. Pat will briefly recall the advances from film cameras through their current flagship, the Hasselblad A6D. Along the way they have developed, worn out, and discarded numerous renditions of hardware and techniques. That’s all well and good, but what is happening today? What is the desired deliverable? Who are our customers? How do we find them? What are the new standards? What does it cost to get established? Are drones going to kill me? What equipment will I need?

Pat will answer these questions and many more.

High Accuracy Aerial Mapping Using Extreme Accuracy GPS with John Arvesen:
The “Autonomous Vehicle” is coming, ready or not!  Four million miles of US roads must be mapped (and routinely remapped) at better than 15cm (6-inch) absolute accuracy prior to the introduction of the autonomous vehicle.  In-vehicle mapping of the US Interstate Highway System (~47,000 miles) has already begun and autonomous vehicle road testing is underway. Can Aerial Photography find a role in mapping the remaining 3.9+ million miles of roadways that do not have lanes defined to as high a standard or otherwise have their lanes obscured by weather or age.

- Jean-Luc Kaiser:
The history of aerial photography : 1850 to today, how  enthusiasts, inventors, and photographers invented and improved the business we do every day!" Hopefully Jean-Luc will also share some information about the First PAPA Conference in France and what new and exciting things are happening at L'Europe Vue Du Ciel.

- Dan Wolfe of Wolfe Air:
Reach for the sky with one of the best aerial platform and state-of-the art camera system to capture some of the best aerial images in the movie industry. Dan Wolfe, long time aerial cinematographer and member of the Academy of Motion Picture demonstrated exceptional achievement in the field of theatrical motion pictures. He will inspire us on flying and taking pictures! Wolfe Air

Photo Book Publishing:
The million dollar book: mission possible. The story behind the scene on how 60 wealthy successful people from Quebec accept to pay the average amount of 15,000$ each to have 10 copies of the book ‘’Most beautiful private house of Québec from the air’’. Personalities around the world, from New-York to Paris, from Copenhagen, Beijing and London received a copy of this unique box set or aerial photography. Following the success of this first edition, we are now plan planning the second book ‘’Beauties of Quebec from the air’’, a 2 million dollar project…
- Stock Aerial Photography with John Wark:
Learn about taking, organizing, marketing and selling stock photography from one of our most artistic members!

- Aerial Photographer Town Hall: We all have questions, here's your chance to ask them and have them answered by your fellow colleagues in an impromptu popcorn session! When you arrive you will be asked to submit one or two questions (anonymously if you wish). During the session we will pick questions at random and read them to the group. Individuals from PAPA can then chime in and help answer the query! I think this can be a fun and informative way to get to know our colleagues and industry best practices better!
